Founded in 1892, the Registered Master Builders Federation (RMBF) - (also commonly referred to as the New Zealand Registered Master Builders Association) represents New Zealand's premier builders and construction companies, who deliver the highest quality houses and buildings. Member companies employ over 15,00 builders, trades and subcontractors who between them complete over two-thirds of all the construction and building work undertaken in New Zealand.
Not all builders are members of the Federation, membership of which requires good business standards as well as quality workmanship. Recognised as a hallmark of quality, the Registered Master Builder brand can be displayed only by full member builders and construction companies, which meet the RMBF's necessary standards including:
- Building qualifications and experience criteria - Including a minimum of six years building experience,at least three years in business on their own account, or in day to day management of a building business
- Sound business record - Each member must satisfy the local Association and the Federation of continuous solvent trading together with satisfactory management of the business
- Quality workmanship - Building of high quality homes, houses and buildings.
Registered Master Builders are periodically checked by local associations throughout the country ensuring that they continue to be the 'best of the best' in the building and construction industry.
